7) Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives.
March 26th, 2011 General Manager Jim Spangenberg and Production Director Angie Evans participated on a panel of broadcasting and promotion career professionals on the campus of CMU, in the Bovee University Center during a student career day event targeted towards CMU students interested in careers in broadcasting and promotional marketing. Students were interviewed and screened about their interests in employment and internship opportunities within the broadcasting industry and WCFX specifically.
Internship Program
Between June 1st 2010 and May 31st, 2011, WCFX offered 6 internships within the station’s departments. The interns attended and participated in staff meetings and promotional planning meetings. They assisted the station in the following areas to gain further knowledge of their career choice.
- Implementation of promotions (i.e. scheduling, drafting proposals, contact with sales and on-air
- departments, follow-up to promotion)
- Coordination of on-air giveaways
- Station promotional event setup
- Assist at station events and remotes
- Wrote news briefs
- Assisted sales staff with proposals and client presentations
- Wrote advertising copy
- Observed on-air staff during their shift
